I see you. I know what it feels like to have tried everything from Amazon to Zazzle and still not see the financial breakthrough you’ve been praying for.
I know what it’s like to start something with excitement, believing this is it, only to watch it fizzle out—again. The endless courses, the failed attempts, the exhaustion of pouring time, energy, and hope into a business that just hasn’t taken off the way you dreamed it would.
But here’s the truth: God hasn’t brought you this far to leave you now.
If you’ve ever felt like quitting, like throwing in the towel and going back to “something more stable”—but deep inside, you know you can’t because this calling won’t let you go—then this post is for you.
The Fight is Spiritual as Much as It is Practical
Let’s be real: starting and growing a business is hard. It takes resilience, faith, and a level of commitment that will test every fiber of your being. And for those of us in our 50s and beyond, we don’t have the luxury of wasting another 5-10 years just trying things.
But let me remind you: this battle isn’t just about business—it’s about your calling.
Ephesians 6:12 tells us, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
The enemy would love nothing more than for you to give up. To believe the lie that it’s too late, that you missed your moment, that it’s just not meant to be. But I am here to tell you: those are lies straight from the pit of hell.
You are still here. You are still breathing. And that means God is not finished with you yet.
What to Do When You Feel Like Quitting
So, how do you keep going when you feel like giving up? How do you push through when nothing seems to be working?
1. Go Back to Your Why
Why did you start this journey? Was it to finally experience financial freedom? To have the resources to support ministries, missions, and causes that God has placed on your heart?
To create something that leaves a legacy for your children and grandchildren?
When the road gets tough, your why has to be bigger than your frustration. If you don’t have clarity on this, take some time to seek God in prayer and write down your real reasons for wanting this.
Keep it where you can see it every day.
2. Shift from Frustration to Faith
Every time I’ve found myself at the brink of giving up, I’ve realized something: I was focusing too much on what wasn’t working and not enough on WHO was working behind the scenes.
Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
God is not only aware of your struggle—He is actively strengthening and guiding you. But you have to shift your focus from what you don’t see to the faithfulness of the One who called you.
3. Simplify and Focus
Let’s be honest—some of us have been trying everything. One minute we’re doing affiliate marketing, then we’re launching an Etsy store, then we’re signing up for another course that promises the breakthrough we’ve been searching for.
It’s time to simplify.
What if, instead of trying to do 20 different things, you gave yourself permission to focus deeply on one thing? What if instead of getting caught up in all the shiny objects, you dedicated the next 90 days to doing one thing with excellence?
Which brings me to the next point...
4. Commit to Mastery, Not Just Movement
One of the biggest mistakes I see (and one I’ve made myself) is mistaking movement for progress. Just because you’re busy doesn’t mean you’re building something sustainable.
Instead of hopping from thing to thing, ask yourself: What would happen if I truly mastered one business model and gave it my all?
Slow down, go deep, and commit to mastery.
5. Stay Plugged Into Encouragement and Accountability
Trying to build an online business without a support system is like trying to climb a mountain alone. You were never meant to do this by yourself.
Hebrews 10:24-25 reminds us, “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
This journey is hard enough—don’t isolate yourself. Surround yourself with like-minded people who are walking this same road and who will encourage you when you need it most.
This Isn’t the End of Your Story
I know you’re tired. I know the road has been long. I know the results haven’t come as fast as you wanted them to.
But this is not the time to quit.
What if this next season is the one where everything finally clicks? What if this time next year, you’re walking in the financial breakthrough you’ve been praying for? You won’t know unless you keep going.
Stay in the game. Keep the faith. Keep moving forward.
